Remembering Our US Veterans. Mass at St. Vitus. May 28, 2017
On May 28, 2017, Sunday, St Vitus Catholic War Veterans Post 1655, will remember all US Veterans, especially Veterans who gave their lives in combat, at the 9:00AM Mass. During the Mass, names of all deceased Veterans from CWV Post 1655 will be read and honored. Taps and laying of the wreath will then occur, weather permitting, outside in the parish rectory court-yard where a “Veterans Memorial Monument” was installed and dedicated in 2009.
After the laying of wreath and 21 gun salute, all attendees are invited to go to the lower church hall for coffee, light pastry, and juice as well as fellowship and good company and conversation.
Over 750 individuals from St. Vitus Parish served in World War II, one of the highest numbers from a Roman Catholic parish in northeast Ohio with 41 parishioners killed. In addition, there was one killed Veteran from St. Vitus from, respectively, Korean War and Vietnam War. May all our departed rest in peace.
