Happy Mother’s Day
Every year on the second Sunday of May, we lovingly honor the gift of motherhood.
Motherhood, as well as fatherhood, is an exalted calling which is directly touched by the creative hand of God. We had a glimpse of the greatness of motherhood when the archangel Gabriel appeared to the Blessed Virgin Mary to ask her if she would become the mother of the Divine Son. Later, when Elizabeth greeted her, Mary exclaimed: ”My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my Savior because from now on all generations will call me blessed.”
On this Mother’s Day we remember our mothers and grandmothers. Also, countless other women who never married or had children, but nevertheless dispensed a spiritual kind of motherhood through friendship, kindness and Christian service. To all these women we say, Happy Mother’s Day!
Masses today follow our traditional weekend schedule at both 9:00am (English) and 10:30am (Slovenian).
