Cleveland Kurentovanje 2016 – Feb. 6th

Kurentovanje (koo-rahn-toh-VAHN-yay) is the most popular carnival event in Slovenia and the central figure of the carnival, the Kurent, is believed to chase away winter and usher in spring. The day is filled with costumes, a parade, live performances, ethnic food and drink, heritage and fuzzy Kurents.

This year’s Cleveland Kurentovanje will be held on Saturday, February 6th, 2016, starting with a parade going from Sterle’s Country House and ending at the Slovenian National Home. From there, the festival will continue both inside the main floor hall and outside, featuring a heated tent to enjoy drinks in and shelter from the cold. Delicious food & drinks, cultural dance groups & live music will be available throughout the entire day, so be sure to attend for a special taste of Slovenian culture.

Cleveland Kurentovanje is a volunteer-run organization founded in 2013, with the St. Clair-Superior Development Corporation as their non-profit fiscal sponsor. Please consider a donation to help offset the costs of this free and unique event.
