Ash Wednesday: March 6th, 2019
Ash Wednesday is normally considered as the start of The Lenten Season. Ash Wednesday is a day of prayer, fasting and asking for repentance. This also means that the season of Lent is a six week time period prior to celebrating Easter. The name “Ash Wednesday” literally means the placement of “ashes” on a person’s forehead with the presider, normally a priest, also saying the words “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” The ashes are made from the burning of palm leaves used from the prior year Palm Sunday service(s). St. Vitus Parish will observe Ash Wednesday in the following manner:
Mass at 11:00AM in St. Vitus Church, 6019 Lausche Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44103 with distribution of ashes.
Mass in The Chapel, St. Vitus Village, 6114 Lausche Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44103 with distribution of ashes.
